Sustainable delights abound in the sloping San Francisco artist’s garden. Clay soil natives, potted edibles, and aromatics mingle with the found-material sculptural elements along meandering paths of permeable concrete stepping-stones. Storm water flows down the hillside's stream-bed swale into a cistern, diminishing runoff, and storing water for thirsty plants in the dry season. Whether for sculpting or potting, the studio/shed, built from recycled materials, has a green-roof that captures runoff while adding biodiversity, natural insulation, and beauty.
