Sleeping out is for everyone, that is, if you are in your own bed. Rebecca Coffman, landscape architect and Tom Reily, landscape contractor, have joined forces to create a romantic way to spend endless nights counting stars in your favorite garden environment. Wake to an outdoor shower in the morning light where the water is collected and used for irrigation. This garden demonstrates green building concepts, including recycled materials, fabrics, furniture and water recycling. An outdoor bed can be a reality for many gardens in the Bay Area during the dry season of summer. Come fall, pack it up and move indoors. Start counting sheep.

This garden is itself a sculpture. Rather than focusing on the vegetation, it is built on forms and the aesthetic qualities of the materials. The surfaces of wood, stone and steel provide the texture of the sculpture, while light and a minimal assortment of California native plants accent its form. It is at once modern and organic, while also requiring minimal care and
maintenance.
