ABOUT US

THE SAN FRANCISCO FLOWER & GARDEN SHOW

The San Francisco Flower & Garden Show has a rich history of 25 years now in California and has obtained many international accolades over that time.  The Show is one of the largest of its kind in the United States and is dedicated to demonstrating best practices in gardening and outdoor design and living.

In 2011, the Show Theme will be:  "Living in a Calfornia Garden", where our gardens will demonstrate the best practices in conservation and elegance.  There is something for everyone: from vegetable and flower gardens, green living, and art and entertainment.

This Show would not be possible without the generous donations of time and money by several organizations.  The community has been very supportive of our efforts and we know that our success is directly tied to the efforts of countless volunteers and community enthusiasts that give the show its flair and passion and make it one of the best Flower & Garden Shows in the United States.  We thank all of you for your support in making the Show a reality in 2010.

THE FLOWER SHOW STEERING COMMITTEE

The show will be guided by a volunteer steering committee with a long history of participating in and supporting the show. The well-known landscape designers, gardeners and growers on the committee include Chairman Tim O'Shea of Greenworks Design, Davis Dalbok of Living Green, Mike Boss of Rock & Rose Landscapes and Robin Stockwell of Succulent Gardens.

Christy Auten - Business/Finance Manager
Christine is our Business/Finance Manager. She has a B.S. degree in Sociology and Business Administration. She has been working in accounting and finance for several years in the Event industry and enjoys working with happy people. She is good with numbers, but even better with her garden. She enjoys spending her husband's hard earned money on the latest nursery blooms and landscaping designs. She loves roses, tulips and orchids. We keep her around because she keeps us all sane!

Kay Estey - San Francisco Garden Show Producer

Kay Hamilton Estey, Producer of the San Francisco Flower & Garden Show, started in the business as a garden designer, and even designed and built a garden in the San Francisco Show (a while ago). Now she produces the Show, using her business background and knowledge of the green industry to work with landscape professionals, plant people, artists, students - in fact, anyone connected in any way with plants and beauty - to create a gorgeous show. Kay is a member of too many horticultural organizations to list, and has never met a plant she didn't like. She loves to nap, drink wine, read, draw, write, and think. She gardens hard on a small plot of land in San Francisco, trying to bring order to an unruly collection of plants, cats, raccoons, possums and squirrels.

Her current new plant delight is Symphoricarpus albus laevigatus, Snowberry, a native California shrub, for light shade, with pink flowers and lovely white berries. Other new favorites are South African bulbs of many kinds which do very well in the San Francisco Bay Area. She could go on...

Lynette Stavros - Exhibits Manager
Lynette is our Exhibits Manager and has years of experience is sales and management of all types of trade shows. She has visited the SF Flower Show regularly from its start at Fort Mason and is thrilled to work on one of her favorite shows and to help all our vendors have a successful show.

She has worked primarily on consumer Home and Garden Shows throughout California,  and also on Food Shows for PBS (mmm fattening), High Tech Electronics like CES, E3, and Comdex (whatever happens in Vegas is a lot more boring than those ads lead you  to believe), travel shows, sustainable building shows, builders shows and the list goes on.

She is currently watching in amazement some of the tomato plants she acquired at the last show and wondering just how much space Goliath is going to occupy. Unlike the producer Kay, she has met several plants she doesn’t like, especially the neighbor’s ivy. She gardens around the edge of an under-utilized swimming pool in San Jose.

Laura Schaub - Public Relations Representative

Laura is a landscape designer, garden writer, and photographer who has a long association with the Show, both as a garden creator and educational exhibitor. Now her focus is public relations for the show: connecting with media -- newspapers, magazines, TV, radio, websites, bloggers -- and giving them compelling reasons to communicate about this world class garden event. Her goal is to attract an ever-wider audience to the Show, by letting them know all the interesting things it offers to gardeners and non-gardeners of all ages.

As the Show's PR contact, Laura regularly visits and writes about Bay Area garden events. You can also find her behind the orange flower on Facebook. Laura is encouraging increased connection between garden creators, speakers, educators, authors, product creators, and distributors via social media, and believes that these stronger connections will increase the synergy that makes a garden show truly successful.
